What is a Teen Audience?

What is an Audience?

An auidence is a group of people spectating or listening at a public event such as a cinema screening, play, radio production, concert or meeting.

Target Audiences

A particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed. There are two types of target audience, primary and secondary. Primary audiences are specific to the production, such as 13-18 year olds a teen film may be aimed at. A secondary target audience is not directly what something may be aimed at such as adults who may reminisce with teen movies. It is useful to have a target audience as companies who aim there movie towards a specific group of people are more likely to draw in profit, as their production will cover aspects that that target audience will feel they can relate to.

Teen Film Audiences

The primary audience of teen films are teens between the age of 13-18. This is mainly because the setting of teen t=films are in high schools, similar to that of 13-18 year old settings. Secondly the actors hired for the production are normally young, therefor a teen audience feel they can relate to the film.

There are two secondary audiences of teen films. Under 13's, and adults up to the age of 35. Under 13's may watch teen films because its a age they look up to. An older audience may watch teen films to reminisce about what teen life was like.
