4. High School Drama VS Youth Drama

There are two sub genres within the 'Teen' category: High school dramas and youth dramas.

High school dramas

High school dramas are typically filmed within a school setting, with female leads and a theme of romance. Normally with a comical tone and basic plot line, they appeal to teens who feel they can relate to the loose story line and entertaining comical edge.

Typical Structures of High School Drama Title Sequences  

This usually consists of a large list of titles.Whilst the titles are being rolled there will usually be a socialisation of teenagers, celebrating the idea of being young in the background.  This may introduce the main focus of the film which is often ' female focused'. 

Mean Girls 

Mean Girls is a High School Drama , the title sequence supported the conventions of a High School Drama . This Consisted of a very large of producers and actors. With a simplistic typing, which utilised stereotypically 'feminine' colours. This title sequence establishes the storyline; it features a girl starting her first day at an American high school, therefore setting the movie as a 'high school drama.'

Boys N The Hood 

This was a youth drama . this Consisted a no mention of actors or directors simply the producers and owners . This consisted of a unique logo on a black background but thawed was a white outline not filled in .This subject behind the title was of a children aged about 9-10 exploring a murder scene this matter is rather serious and not something every one is exposed to in there life's.

Comparison

The youth drama seems to  be more serious, this would imply less humor a.The List  of producers  and actors is bigger for the Teen Movie as what happening behind isn't such serious ,and not vital to the plot as the plot is rather simple . However the Teen Drama has a serious storyline and every part of the film is vital and there attention can't be taken away.The teen movie doesn't have a unique logo as it's not seemed serious enough unlike the youth Drama . The subject of the youth drama is not clear unlike The High School Drama which we can tell is a female this  is also shown through the female color scheme of the text .
