When does Thomas Sutcliffe means when he says "Films need to seduce their audience into a long term commitment. While there are many types of seductions, the temptations to go for an instant arousal is almost irresistible".
That a film needs to catch an audiences attention and to draw them in to want to carry on watching.

According to Director Jean Jacques Beiniex, what are the risks of "instant arousal"?
Explain why "a good beginning must make the audience feel that it doesn't nearly enough yet, and at the same time that it doesn't know too little"

The risks of 'instant arousal' is, if you start a film opening too powerful, the audience maybe asking questions which would lead to the plot of the film being discovered and also the ending.This is so that the target audience can be prepared, without discovering the whole story.

What does critic Stanley Kauffman describe as a classic opening? Why does it work?

A classic film opening would always tell us the location of the film, who the main character is, what type of the film this is and it introduces the story to the audience,

Why is Kyle Cooper's title sequence to the film seven so effective?

The title sequence of 'Seven' is very effective because it set the audiences mood, ready for the atmosphere of the film as suspends disbelief and makes the audience a part of the film. It foreshadows whats going to happen in the film and shows the audience the main character.

What did Orson Welles want to achieve with his opening to the film A Touch Of Evil? What did Universal Studios do with it? Why? 

Orson Welles didn't want any titles or credits in the beginning of a film because he wanted to suspend disbelief. However Universal studios didn't take his idea and put in the credits. 

What is meant by a "a favourite trick of Film Noir"? What is the trick? 

The trick of 'Film Noir' is that the introduction of the film is similar to the ending of the film.

How does the opening to the film The Shining create suspense? 

Suspense is made by the camera while it is following the car, the audience see that the car is being followed and it is trying to get away. The scenery is overlooked as there is this suspense is drawed the audiences attention to the fast paced moving car; therefore a sense of urgency is almost created.
