Lots of teen dramas usually have similar structure and events that occur in them. But however they are also put into very different and contrasting sub-categories.
Comedy - You can usually relate to it, due to it having many issues or events that happens in everyday teenage life, such as social lives or relationships. An example for this, is The Inbetweeners.
Sci-Fi - Usually set in the future , with very futuristic surroundings, and also usually involves technology and machines. An example for this is Star-Crossed
Fantasy - It usually has a supernatural element like vampires or werewolf's, which is usually to do with having links to being supernatural, but having to hide it from the normal world. An example of this, is Vampire Diaries
Action - It is often about good against evil, with elements of violence and also sometime it has elements of romance. An example of this is Smallville
